Our Team

  • Mushroom Man

Sean is an all-around science-meets-nature guy. From plasma researcher, to engineer, to mushroom farmer, Sean has designed and manufactured many of the parts our used in our laboratory and fruiting chamber. He takes sterile and tender care of our mushroom substrate, inoculation, and harvest. Hailing from New Mexico, Sean met Ben while working as engineers at a national lab. Turns out that wasn’t quite Sean’s jam. He’s much more interested in biking, mechanics, gardening, making cool stuff, helping others, and spending time with friends and family. He’s grateful to be currently striking a good work-life balance at Inspiration Acres.

  • Creative Force

Lane adds flair to this business that would otherwise be a dull organization run by engineers. Painter by day, and mom by evening, she likes quiet, coffee and color. She brings a soft touch to the Inspiration Acres team. Lane is a native Fredericktonian, but she’s an avid traveler and has lived in a variety of places with her family. Lane’s professional background includes yoga and ESL teaching, freelance magazine writing, systems change managing, and funeral directing. And, mainly, parenting three kids and taking care of the household goings-ons. Lane enjoys running, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.

  • Business Guy

Ben came up with the idea of Inspiration Acres during a run in Santa Fe, NM. He and Lane moved to Middletown, MD, not far from where they both grew up, and they now raise their children among chickens, vegetables, clean air, friendly folks, and good public schools. Ben likes biking, running, gardening, learning about things, spending time with family and friends, and speaking French to any French person he stumbles across.

Our Farm

Nestled in the heart of Middletown Valley, less than a mile from town square, Inspiration Acres is a 26-acre corn, hay, and wheat farm and the beautiful backdrop to our gourmet mushroom microfarm.
